How it works
Shop fashion with confidence in just a few easy steps.
1. Shop eligible fashion
Look for the Fashion Exchange banner on eligible listings before you buy.
2. Try it on
Check fit and smell at home. You have 72 hours from delivery to request an exchange.
3. Exchange with ease
Request an exchange in the app. Ship it back with the return label.
Once received, you’ll get Mercari credit valid for 30 days.

Note to sellers: If a Fashion Exchange is initiated, we will work directly with buyers to handle the exchange for you and auto-rate your transaction.

You can exchange your item for Mercari credit if your return reason is any of the following:

What is eligible?
Eligible:
- Women’s, Men’s, and Kid’s fashion in eligible categories. [See the full list here.]
- Items priced at $100 or less.
- Shipped from the US.
- Bundles, if all individual items are eligible for Fashion Exchange and all items in the bundle are sent to Mercari for exchange.
Not eligible:
- Items priced over $100.
- Shipped from Japan (item origin: Japan).
- Bundles with any items that are not eligible for Fashion Exchange.

How do I know if an item is eligible for the Fashion Exchange Program?
- The program applies to fashion items priced up to $100 in specific women's, men's, and kids' clothing, fashion categories. A detailed list of categories is available in our Help Center.
- Eligible items will be clearly indicated with a label on the listing page and information will be shown during the checkout process.
Do sellers still get paid for exchanges through this program?
- Yes; sellers will still receive the full amount (minus applicable fees) and will be auto-rated. Mercari handles eligible exchanges on behalf of the seller.
What happens after I send the item back?
Once the item is received and inspected at our office, your Mercari credit will be processed and issued to your account. You will have 30 days to use your credit.
